Who We Are
Dr. Kelly Jennings
Naturopathic Doctor & Acupuncturist
I graduated from Amherst College in 1998 with Honors in Neuroscience. I began an apprenticeship in Neuroscience at UCSF and within the year realized that I wanted to work with people, not mice. I moved to New York City and worked in clinical trials in the oncology department at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. During that time, I took the medical entrance exams, applied to medical schools around the country and ultimately realized that I wanted to be involved in a different sort of medicine. I found the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon and began the doctoral program there in 2001, graduating valedictorian in 2007 with a degree in both naturopathic medicine and Chinese medicine.
I have been in clinical practice as a licensed primary care physician since 2008 - specializing in chronic disease and complementary cancer care in Portland, Oregon. At this time, a colleague and I co-authored The Breast Cancer Companion (thebreastcancercompanion.com), a clinical manual for healthcare practitioners who see breast cancer patients, currently in its 3rd edition.
In September of 2013 I moved to New York and began a clinical practice in Rhinebeck, NY. I use a combination of pulse diagnosis, western medical diagnosis including focused physical exams and relevant blood work and imaging, Five Element constitutional diagnosis and a comprehensive medical intake on the first visit to make a health assessment. Chinese and western herbs, specific nutritional supplementation, nutritional counseling and acupuncture are the primary therapies I utilize with my patients.
